Course Description:
It is estimated that greater than eighty percent of patients to not adhere to the advise provided by healthcare professionals. This program explores the clinician’s beliefs and barriers that may impair quality healthcare communication delivery and will introduce techniques to assist the clinician in helping patients make health behavior or lifestyle changes.

Learning Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  1. List the 3 components in the educational process of communicating health care information.
  2. Describe the role of the pharmacist as a facilitator of behavior change.
  3. Identify strategies to assess the pharmacist’s understanding of the change process.
  4. Describe 2 techniques used to assess a patient’s readiness for behavior change.
